Hi, I'm Jasmine and this is my A2 Media Studies Coursework Blog, anything found here is my own creative genius...unless stated otherwise. So read and enjoy! :)

Inspirations

Here are few Music videos I think are very good and which I believe could be imitated/copied in my own Music Video...

Dev's Booty Bounce:The change of costumes in this video shows that alot of effort has been put into the production of the video. The green screening is impeccable and the choreography and timing is incredibly difficult to do, so hat off to the director, producer and editors of this Music video. However  the constant change of costumes does get a little boring after a while so I might have to think about how much of this technique I use.

Katy Perry's Last Friday Night: this would be the ideal Pop song to emanate in a student made Music video simply because of the lyrics. The lyrics make it easier to form a story/narrative which could be followed as the song is sung. The only problem for this however is that it may be difficult to find so many actors, locations and costumes.

Natasha Bedingfield's Strip me: A complete concept is giftwrapped to you in this song because it fully justifies the transformation of character technique (also used in Annie Lennox's own music video). The narrative in this Music video is clearly set out, with the beginning, middle and end being clear to those watching. Another good thing about this video is that there is actually a climax to the video unlike many videos which have a good concept but end up failing to reach the climax of the narrative.

Bruno Mars' The Lazy Song: This video has been shot in quite an interesting way, as there is only one set, and the Music video appears to have been produced in one shot. Therefore I believe I may be justified in suggesting that the production values for this Music Video are quite low in comparison to most. However despite this being impressive, it may be difficult to pull off with so many people involved. The masks and dance routines provide comedic effect and reflect the humour of the Artist also. Both image and lyrics appear to collate with one another and this provides familarity for the audience.

Skylar Grey's Dance Without You: This video is quite dark and morbid and despite its depressing atmosphere, the technical features of this video are vergy interesting and effective to use. For example the production values are lower than normal, as the entire music video takes place in an Examination room and there are onltwo costumes needed. The rest of the Video relies on Camera Editing, Effects (change in lighting, speeding up/slowing down), Green Screen and the Screens within Screens technique.
